Troubleshooting

  • Check that the USB anchor is plugged in and the port is correct in config/topos.yaml
  • For WiFi anchors: verify they are on the same network as the Mac
  • A tag must be powered on for anchors to report distances
  • Verify the tag has a unique ID (not the same as another tag)
  • Check the tag is powered on (blinking LED)
  • Verify UWB speed matches (6.8M) on both tag and anchors
  • Check that 3 anchors see the tag (header: 3/3 anchors)
  • Run antenna delay calibration (section 7.3)
  • Move anchors away from metallic surfaces
  • Verify line of sight between anchor and tag

This is normal — some Direct firmware versions don’t support this command. Configuration works without it (AT+SETCFG directly).

Topos holds the serial port on startup. To configure a device:

  1. Use the config device button in the dashboard (auto-pauses Topos)
  2. Or stop Topos before plugging in a device

Some MaUWB Direct units ship configured as anchors. Use the device config panel to reconfigure as tag (role: tag). Remember to stop reporting (AT+SETRPT=0) before sending config commands, otherwise responses get lost in the ranging data.

Multicast PSN not received on remote machine

Section titled “Multicast PSN not received on remote machine”

Multicast requires network support (IGMP snooping enabled on switch/AP). Workaround: use relay mode — run a slave Topos on the receiving machine with --relay.

Check UWB_TAG_COUNT in the anchor firmware. Default is 64 (640ms cycle). Set to 8 for 3 tags (80ms cycle = 12.5 Hz). Must match on all anchors and tags (AT+SETCAP).
